I'm Paul Purczel

Web Developer

I specialise in Zend Framwork, Jquery and Twitter Bootstrap.

Hello, My Name is Paul Purczel.

I live in Gulfview Heights in the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide.
I am married with 4 children.

Currently I run a web development company named Ace Web Design, which creates modern websites that are easy to maintain.

My specialty is PHP and Zend Framework, however I could easily pick up other frameworks with similar principles. Over the years I've managed to learn many varied skills which help me to achieve great results.

Some of my work

I'm looking to add some exciting projects to this list

Travel Superstore

Travel Superstore is a huge travel website which is connected to more than 20 API's. I managed the project with Jira as well as writing a lot of code for the website, and setting up the complex AWS infrastructure which featured VPC container with outbound NAT instance along with Mongodb instances and RDS.

Arcadia Migration

Arcadia Migration needed a new website and needed it done quickly. We created a solution which was not only professional, but allowed them to update many aspects of the website quickly and easily with a content management system (CMS) within a 2 week time frame.

Netlens

Netlens is an online contact lens supplier. Their ecommerce system needed to be custom made to suit the products they were selling. An easy to use and administer website was created.

My Skills

I enjoy my work, and giving end users a great experience. I thrive for challenges, and smashing deadlines for projects.

1. Strategy

Planning a project out is key to it's success. My preferred planning tool is Jira with Kanban and Scrum being used. I also have experience with other tools such as Confluence, Lucidchart, Proposify, WHMCS, Zendesk, Insightly and many more. Getting a deep understanding of a projects requirements is important from the beginning.

2. Web Development

MVC is King, and I specialise in Zend Framework/PHP. Using Object Oriented Design and the DRY principle I make the code simple and easy to follow. I love to use PhpStorm with a focus on reusable code, and using Live templates to fast track development and reduce time frames.

3. API's

Using API's to connect with data sources can be very beneficial. Using Rest, Soap, XML I can make the connection and use the data within a project. My experience with API's includes using Facebook, Twitter, AWS, Google, Yahoo, Xero, Amadeus, Travel Fusion, Viator, Booking.com, Laterooms, Hotelsbeds, Expedia, V3 Leisure, Wotif, Flightstats, ClickSSL, Roamfree, Australia Post, Eway, Securepay, Yelp, Namecheap, Upwork, WHMCS, Factual, HomeAway and more.

4. Hosting

Using Lamp on either Cpanel servers or complex scaled AWS setup I've set up many websites on servers. Setting DNS settings and changing settings at multiple domain registrars included.

5. AWS

Using EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, ElastiCache, Route53, SES, SQS, DynamoDb with both API and the GUI, I've set up a very complex scaled configuration which had an outbound NAT instance attached inside a VPC for outgoing requests to API's using a static IP address.

6. Javascript / Jquery

Modern interfaces demand Javascript in most cases, and I've got a lot of experience using Jquery in web sites. For simple ajax requests to more complex drag and drop situations I have worked in many situations.

7. Testing and CI

I've worked on Continuous integration using bamboo. Functional testing using selenium and unit tests within some projects.

8. Database Management

MYSQL for structured data, and MongoDb or DynamoDb for unstructured data. Having a solid database structure is another big key to a reliable website. Also more recently I've been working with Doctrine2 including fixtures.

9. Html and CSS

Using Html 5 and CSS3 I can create beautiful responsive websites. My preferred framework to use is Bootstrap which makes creating responsive websites far easier. Using PhpStorm with Emmet and live templates fast tracks the design process.
